It a great pleasure for me, as the senior prefect and S.R.C president to extend to you the warm welcome of the Accra Academy. The Accra Academy was founded on 20th July, 1931 by four young men imbued with the spirit of sacrifice, self-denial and selflessness. These visionary young men namely; Dr. K. G. Konuah, J. A. Halm-Addo, G. N. Alema and S. N. Awuletey are all of blessed memory. The school is located on a thirty-seven acre land at Bubiashie, off the Winneba road in the Greater Accra Region and offers a while range of courses in Arts, Science, Business, Agricultural Science and Visual Arts.
Currently, the school has a student population of 1986 out of which most are boarders. The boarders reside in halls namely, Ellen Hall, Awuletey Hall, Alema Hall, Halm-Addo Hall, Nana Akuoko Sarpong Hall and the old boys 1 PTA block which comprises of three halls, out of which two have been completed and being occupied by students. These halls are Peter Ala Adjetey and Nana Wereko Ampem and the one yet to be completed will be named Nana Awuah Darko Ampem Hall.
The Accra Academy was born out of necessity and the urge makes available quality education to the less endowed in Accra. The success story of Accra Academy is one busted from virtues of discipline, selflessness, patriotism, self-denied, hardwork, respectfulness, and above all the sense of togetherness and brotherhood. These virtues are characterized by some philosophies; “Non sibi sed aliis”, meaning not for self but for all. And the motto: Esse quem videri” meaning to be other than to seem to be.
As the cliché goes on “the sky is our limit” but, for us in Accra Academy, we believe and know that the sky is our footstool upon which we are spurred to attain greater heights. It is indeed a school of no regret where our little minds are shaped. The Accra Academy welcomes you again to her heart with all the warmth and favour which she accords to the home-coming of her own sons.
