There are twelve classes of science students in total. In each form there are four classes allocated specifically to these students. They are Science 1, Science 2, Science 3 and Science 4. With the exception of Science 4 students who offer Geography, Physics, Chemistry and Elective Mathematics as their electives all the classes offer Physics, Biology , Chemistry and Elective Mathematics as their elective subjects.
The total number of students who offer the pure sciences in the department is 600, 200 in each form.
In addition, the Science Department teaches Integrated Science as a core subject to all students in Accra Academy; a duty we have discharged with the expected dedication of good teachers.
The Science Department prepared students for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (W.A.S.S.C.E.), with the aim of improving on the grades of the candidates and helping a greater number of students to move to higher levels of education.
The Science Department also presented students to participate in the 2015 Science and Mathematics Quiz Competition held at the University of Ghana, Legon. But we were eliminated at the semi-final stage an improvement on last year’s performance.
It is the expectation of the Department that within the next three years we will be able to improve upon our results and also win the Science and Mathematics Competition.
