The visual arts programme as offered at Accra Academy gives students the opportunity to acquire knowledge and skills in the history of art, picture making, graphic design, sculpture and leather work.
The major aim of the department is to train students to be self-employed and self-dependent after school without compromising on the horizontal and vertical progression of manpower development policy of our nation. We also train students to be able to contribute effectively to the socio-economic development of their community or society.
In order to achieve our aims as a department, students are given career counseling once a year; teachers are always in the classroom and studio teaching. Furthermore, students are taken on excursions to learn more about art and how some artists have made it both locally and internationally.
Presently the department is staffed with four teachers:
|1||Mrs. Vera Akakpo (Head of Department)||Leather-work|
|2||Mr. Samuel Adansi-Bondah||Picture Making|
|3||Mrs. Sarah Tweneboa-Kondua||Graphic Design|
|4||Mr. Michael Ohene Saforo||Sculpture.|
