Accra Academy offers a diverse range of academic programs, including General Arts, General Science, Agriculture, Business, and Visual Arts. During the registration process for the Computerized School Selection and Placement System, final year junior high school applicants have the opportunity to select four elective courses according to their interests and aspirations. In contrast, core courses are mandatory for all students, regardless of their chosen program of study. These core courses include English language, core mathematics, social studies, integrated science, ICT (core), and physical education. However, students are examined both internally and externally in only the first five of these courses. The academy follows a curriculum similar to that of other senior high schools in Ghana, operating within a three-year academic cycle, spanning from form one to form three. The commencement of the first academic year signifies a student's enrollment in the academy, while the conclusion of the third academic year marks their graduation. This well-rounded educational approach at Accra Academy ensures students receive a comprehensive foundation for their future endeavors.
Accra Academy takes immense pride in maintaining an unwavering commitment to academic excellence, consistently ranking among the top-performing senior high schools in Ghana. In 2009, our institution stood tall among a select group of schools in the Greater Accra Region, with a remarkable achievement of 60% or more of our candidates qualifying for tertiary education, demonstrating our dedication to shaping future leaders. Moreover, a survey has recognized Accra Academy as a significant contributor, with 50% or more of our students successfully pursuing higher education at universities across Ghana, underscoring our role in nurturing academic talent and potential.In 2018, a total of 676 students from our school took the WASSCE examination, and an impressive 94.7% of them achieved success by passing all 8 courses with grades ranging from A1 to C6. This outstanding performance reflects our students' dedication and the quality of education they receive, positioning them well for university enrollment in Ghana. In 2020, 672 of our students participated in the WASSCE, with 94.2% of them securing passes in 6 courses, including 4 core courses and 2 elective courses.
