Admission Overview

Accra Academy is a distinguished senior high school that takes pride in its rich tradition of academic excellence and character development. As an institution exclusively for young gentlemen, we are dedicated to providing a nurturing environment where boys can thrive academically and personally. Admission at Accra Academy is highly competitive, reflecting our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of education and character development. We welcome young men who have successfully completed their Junior High School education to apply for admission into our esteemed institution. Here's a glimpse into our admission process:

Eligibity: To be eligible for admission to Accra Academy, applicants must have completed their Junior High School education. We recognize the importance of a solid academic foundation, and our doors are open to students who are ready to embark on a transformative journey in senior high school.

Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS): In 2005, the Ghana Education Service introduced the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS), a revolutionary approach to streamline the admission process for senior high schools across the country. This system ensures fairness and transparency in the allocation of students to their preferred schools.

Emphasis on Raw Scores: Unlike the previous grading system, where a candidate's overall academic performance in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) was determined by computing the aggregate of the best six subject scores, Accra Academy has adopted a more transparent approach. Under the CSSPS, a candidate's raw scores in the BECE are the primary factor in determining their overall academic performance.

Merit-Based Admissions: Accra Academy takes great pride in its commitment to academic excellence. To ensure that our admissions process is based on merit, we employ a deferred-acceptance algorithm. This algorithm ensures that Junior High School applicants are admitted to our institution strictly based on their academic achievements and potential. At Accra Academy, we believe that every young man has the potential to excel academically and become a responsible citizen. Our admission process reflects our dedication to fostering academic excellence and personal growth in our students.

We look forward to welcoming the next generation of young scholars to Accra Academy and providing them with an environment where they can thrive, learn, and develop into outstanding individuals. If you aspire to join the ranks of our esteemed alumni and embark on a journey of academic discovery and personal development, we encourage you to explore our application process further. Together, we can build a brighter future for our students and our nation.
